The Trust Effect: Mayor Vico Sotto on Good Governance

THE TRUST EFFECT: MAYOR SOTTO ON GOOD GOVERNANCE

Mayor Victor Maria Regis “Vico” N. Sotto has become one of the most prominent voices of a new generation of public leaders in the Philippines, those who champion transparency, participatory governance, and principled leadership. First elected as Mayor of Pasig City in 2019, he has consistently pursued reforms aimed at making government more accountable, people-centered, and efficient. His administration has been recognized for instituting digital systems to reduce red tape, ensuring equitable access to social services, and fostering a culture of integrity in public office.

His leadership resonates with many Filipinos because it demonstrates that good governance can be achieved by prioritizing transparency, accountability, and meaningful engagement with citizens. Mayor Sotto shows that these values are not abstract ideals — they translate into rust, participation, and ultimately, a stronger relationship between the government and the people.

Mayor Sotto will be joining us as the distinguished speaker for the MLQA-DisQourse (Quezonian Dialogue) titled “Transparency to Trust: How Good Governance Wins Hearts,” which will take place on November 13, 2025 (Thursday), at 10:00 a.m. at the MLQA Space, Manuel L. Quezon University, 3rd Floor, Victoria Sports Tower, Quezon City. The event will be held in person and will also be livestreamed for wider public engagement.
