Revitalizing Business Education at MLQU: MBA and Real Estate Programs Now Under the School of Business

Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU) continues to move forward with bold academic reforms, marked by the recent transfer of two key programs—the Master in Business Administration (MBA) and the Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Management (BSREM)—under the leadership of the School of Business. This strategic shift underscores the university’s commitment to streamlining its academic offerings and positioning the School of Business as a flagship unit that delivers quality, relevant, and future-ready education.

The MBA program, previously housed under the School of Graduate Studies, will now be administered by the School of Business. This integration allows MLQU to harmonize the delivery of its business programs, aligning curriculum design, faculty development, student services, and industry partnerships under one dynamic academic unit.

 “Our goal is to build a truly robust and integrated School of Business,” shared by Atty. Paquito N. Ochoa, Jr., MLQU Chairman and President. “By bringing the MBA program into the fold, we are able to foster continuity in learning, mentorship, and innovation—from entry-level business education all the way to advanced leadership training.”

Under the SOB, the revitalized MBA program aims to produce globally competitive, socially responsible, and entrepreneurial business leaders. With a focus on strategic thinking, ethical leadership, and innovation in the digital economy, the program will emphasize experiential learning and benefit from strong linkages with industry partners—including MLQU’s key collaborator, the Bayan Family of Foundations.

In parallel, the university has also returned the BSREM program to the School of Business, where it is expected to flourish under a more focused and supportive academic environment

Among the priority areas for the Real Estate Management program are:

  • Curriculum review to ensure alignment with licensure requirements and industry standards;
  • Development of a compressed degree track tailored for second-coursers and working professionals;
  • Interventions to boost licensure exam performance;
  • Strategic marketing and enrollment growth efforts in partnership with the Marketing and Sales Department;
  • Faculty review and development to maintain academic and industry relevance; and
  • Cost-effectiveness measures to ensure sustainability and impact.

To support these efforts, Atty. Keith H. Cipriano has been appointed as Program Coordinator for both the Legal Management and Real Estate Management programs. He will work closely with Dean Leonila J. Generales in overseeing program delivery, faculty coordination, and the execution of improvement strategies.

These moves mark an exciting new chapter for the School of Business and the broader MLQU community. By consolidating strengths, building synergy across programs, and elevating the quality of instruction and services, MLQU continues to reimagine its role in shaping competent, ethical, and innovative professionals for today’s business world.

As President Ochoa aptly puts it, “This is more than a structural change—it is a statement of purpose. We are building a School of Business that is not only competitive but transformative.”
