MOA Signing Among MLQU, Bulacan State University, and Huawei Technologies Philippines during the Educator’s Summit 2024

In a significant move towards advancing technology education in the Philippines, Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU), Bulacan State University (BSU), and Huawei Technologies Philippines formalized their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on October 22, 2024, at Huawei Headquarters in Bonifacio Global City. The signing took place during the prestigious Educator’s Summit 2024, which was themed “Building an Inclusive Talent Ecosystem in the Philippines” and hosted by the Huawei ICT Academy.

The MOA was signed by EVP Lucille Ortile for MLQU, Director Hu Weihua for Huawei Philippines, and Dr. Teody Andres, President of Bulacan State University. The summit gathered representatives from various state colleges, universities, and private educational institutions across the country, all focused on fostering a stronger technological talent pool through partnerships.

The agreement underscores the commitment of the three institutions to enhance the quality of ICT education and training by leveraging Huawei’s expertise in telecommunications and technology solutions. As part of the collaboration, Huawei will provide training, certification programs, and access to their sustainable education initiative, the Huawei Authorized ICT Academy. This program aims to equip university students with industry-recognized certifications and provide professors with cutting-edge training and resources to integrate ICT into their curriculum.

Under the terms of the agreement, MLQU and BSU will serve as Huawei ICT Academies, responsible for delivering Huawei Certification courses to students. Huawei will support this endeavor by donating certification programs, training professors, and providing the necessary learning materials. Additionally, the universities will align their strengths to further innovation and drive socio-economic progress through a dynamic ICT ecosystem.

The partnership will benefit students by offering access to Huawei’s Talent Platform, allowing them to gain hands-on experience through simulator software and, eventually, participate in industry-driven ICT competitions. The program will also include a “Train the Trainer” initiative, through which faculty members will receive specialized training to ensure high-quality delivery of the courses.

The project, set to run until October 2026 with potential for renewal, reflects the shared vision of the three institutions to create an inclusive and forward-looking talent ecosystem in the Philippines, ultimately contributing to the country’s socio-economic growth through technology education.
