MLQU Strengthens Licensure Readiness for Psychology Students Through New Diagnostic and Intervention Program

The Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU) School of Arts, Sciences, and Education (SASE) has launched a proactive initiative aimed at strengthening the competencies of its Psychology students in preparation for the Psychometrician Licensure Examination. This new program underscores MLQU’s continuing commitment to academic excellence and its mission to produce graduates who are fully equipped for professional success.

As part of the initiative, current third-year Psychology students recently underwent a comprehensive diagnostic test designed to assess their proficiency across key Psychology subjects. The diagnostic serves as an early indicator of students’ strengths and areas requiring further development, enabling the faculty to design targeted interventions that will meaningfully enhance student performance.

Based on the results of the assessment, the School will roll out a series of enriched learning strategies, including additional lectures, focused remediation activities, and scheduled mock board examinations. These interventions will provide students with deeper content mastery, improved test-taking skills, and the confidence needed to excel in the licensure examination.

Dean Sergio M. Andal Jr. emphasized that this initiative forms part of the School’s larger direction to uplift the quality of its academic programs. “By integrating diagnostic testing and structured intervention into our curriculum, we ensure that our Psychology students are not only academically prepared but are positioned to thrive in their professional pathways,” he said.

This program aligns with MLQU’s broader efforts to elevate academic standards, enhance teaching and learning outcomes, and ensure that graduates possess a competitive edge in the job market. With the growing demand for skilled mental health professionals in the Philippines, MLQU aims to contribute by developing competent, ethical, and practice-ready psychometricians and psychology practitioners.

Through this initiative, MLQU reaffirms its commitment to nurturing quality graduates —those who embody excellence, readiness, and the Quezonian spirit of continuous growth
