Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU) continues to lead in academic innovation and digital transformation through a new partnership with Makarius Smart Innovations Inc., represented by its CEO, John Andrew P. Mañacop. The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was held on July 18, 2025, with MLQU Executive Vice President Lucille P. Ortile, Dean Leonila J. Generales of the School of Business, and Program Coordinator for Accountancy and BSBA Ms. Joy Anne Vicente in attendance as university representatives.
This strategic collaboration positions MLQU as one of the pioneering partner institutions in the pilot implementation of PathBuilder, an advanced, AI-powered adaptive learning platform developed by Makarius. The initiative is fully funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD).
PathBuilder leverages artificial intelligence to deliver highly personalized learning experiences, adapting to each student’s pace, learning style, and level of proficiency. The platform will initially support the Accountancy and Engineering licensure programs, aiming to enhance student performance and preparedness for professional examinations.
Beyond the licensure track, the partnership also opens future opportunities for MLQU and Makarius to develop micro-credential certifications, especially in emerging fields such as AI in education and workplace applications. This aligns with MLQU’s ongoing initiatives to diversify its academic offerings and equip students and professionals with industry-relevant skills.
“This partnership affirms MLQU’s strong commitment to innovation and academic excellence,” EVP Ortile stated. “By working closely with technology leaders like Makarius, we embrace the digital future of education and ensure our students are better prepared for the evolving demands of the workforce.”
The initiative reflects the shared vision of MLQU and Makarius to advance education through technology and supports the government’s broader goals of building a future-ready academic ecosystem.
