MLQU Lights Up the Season: A Red Christmas at the University

The holiday spirit was alive and felt across the MLQU Grounds on December 3, 2025, as the community gathered to celebrate the much-awaited Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The day began with a solemn morning Mass, offering a moment for prayer, gratitude, and reflection. This spiritual opening set the tone for a meaningful day of celebration, reminding everyone of the deeper essence of Christmas — faith, unity, and thanksgiving.

A Celebration in Red: Warm, Meaningful, and Unifying

This year’s theme — A Red Christmas at MLQU — brought a vivid, heartfelt energy to the celebration. Red, the timeless color of Christmas, symbolizes warmth, joy, and courage, values that strongly resonate with the Quezonian spirit. Students, faculty, alumni, and staff attended the festivities in red, white and maroon, transforming the MLQU Grounds into a vibrant sea of holiday colors.

The red theme amplified the festive atmosphere and reinforced MLQU’s message of unity and compassion: highlighting the power of coming together at the close of a meaningful year.

A Night of Music, Lights, and Community Spirit

As the evening festivities unfolded, the MLQU Grounds were filled with music and cheer. Performers from various student groups and organizations serenaded the community with Christmas classics and contemporary medleys, building excitement and warmth throughout the venue.

The highlight of the event was the ceremonial countdown. As everyone gathered with anticipation, the Christmas tree was illuminated in a brilliant burst of light — symbolizing hope, renewal, and the shared milestones of the MLQU community throughout 2025.

Students, faculty, officers and staff captured photos by the glowing tree, its red-themed décor creating the perfect backdrop for memorable holiday moments.

Lighting the Way to a Joyful and Hopeful Season

The MLQU Christmas Tree Lighting 2025 was not just a celebration; it was a beautiful expression of community, gratitude, and solidarity. From the meaningful morning Mass to the joyful evening ceremony at the MLQU Grounds, the day embodied the true heart of the season.

This year’s “Red Christmas” invites everyone to carry forward the values symbolized by the color red:

• Warmth         – sharing kindness and generosity
• Strength        – facing challenges with courage
• Unity              – embracing one another as one MLQU family

As MLQU welcomes the holiday season and looks ahead to the new year, the Christmas Tree Lighting stands as a beacon of hope and togetherness.
