MLQU Conducts Community Outreach Activities in Quezon City

Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU), through its Extension Services Office, continues to demonstrate its commitment to community engagement and public service by organizing outreach initiatives aimed at assisting communities in need.

In response to the recent fire that gutted several homes along NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City, the Extension Services Office spearheaded a donation drive within the MLQU community. Faculty members, staff, students, and other stakeholders responded generously to the call for assistance.

Through this collective effort, the University was able to gather and donate clothing, food items, hygiene kits, and tents for the affected families. The relief goods were formally turned over to Barangay Kagawad Maritess Fajardo, who received the donations on behalf of the barangay and the fire victims.

The outreach activity was led by Atty. Keith H. Cipriano, Head of the Extension Services Office, together with student groups who participated in the relief effort. The initiative reflects the University’s commitment not only to academic excellence but also to service to the community, especially in times of hardship and recovery.

Meanwhile, student organizations also continue to play an active role in advancing MLQU’s community engagement initiatives. The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) – MLQU Chapter conducted a separate outreach activity at the Home Church Family of Ministries in Barangay Roxas, Quezon City.

Led by its officers and members, the JPIA outreach program included values formation activities and an introductory session on financial literacy for children aged 3 to 12, introducing basic concepts on saving money, responsible financial habits, and the importance of making wise choices. The activities were designed to be simple, engaging, and appropriate for young learners.

The program aimed to instill among the children the importance of discipline, stewardship of resources, and the value of saving at an early age, while allowing MLQU accountancy students to apply their knowledge in a meaningful way by sharing practical lessons on money management and responsible decision-making.

These outreach activities form part of MLQU’s continuing commitment to extension services and community partnership, recognizing that universities play a vital role not only in educating students but also in contributing meaningfully to the development and well-being of surrounding communities.

Through initiatives such as these, MLQU continues to uphold its mission of forming individuals who are not only academically competent but also socially responsible and committed to nation-building.
