In a meaningful and elegant luncheon held at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club on April 4, 2025, the Manuel L. Quezon University Alumni Association, Inc. (MLQUAAI) paid tribute to some of its esteemed alumni — those in their 90s and a remarkable centenarian — whose lives have brought honor and pride to the university community.
The event honored distinguished Quezonians including Mayor Benjamin Abalos, Justice Artemio Tuquero, Dean Norberto Gonzales, and Atty. Lolita Abela, who was warmly celebrated as she reached the milestone of her 100th birthday. The intimate gathering was filled with admiration, joy, and reverence for the honorees, whose dedication to service, leadership, and professional excellence have left a lasting legacy.
The program featured testimonials from peers and fellow alumni, painting vivid portraits of each honoree’s personal and professional journey. These tributes served not only as a celebration of longevity, but also of character and commitment to nation-building.
In her message, MLQU Executive Vice President Lucille P. Ortile expressed deep gratitude and pride in the alumni being honored. She described them as “living testaments to the values we hold dear” and emphasized that their wisdom and life experiences are a source of inspiration for current and future Quezonians. She also shared the university’s hope to build stronger bridges across generations through meaningful initiatives that connect students and alumni in mentorship and service.
MLQUAAI President Atty. Fidel Racasa echoed the sentiments of gratitude and admiration, thanking the honorees for their continued presence and influence in the MLQU community. “This luncheon is more than a celebration of age — it is a tribute to enduring excellence,” he said, noting that the stories shared during the event reaffirm what it means to be a Quezonian.
The occasion concluded with dancing — a lively end to a memorable gathering that rekindled old friendships and strengthened the bond among generations of alumni.
The MLQU and MLQUAAI extend its invitation to all Quezonians to return home once more for the Grand Alumni Homecoming in December, as the university continues to honor its past, celebrate its present, and chart its path forward with pride and unity.
