77th Graduation Ceremony of the School of Law: “Elevate, Innovate, Accelerate: Seizing Opportunities in the Digital Age.”

On June 22, 2024, the School of Law proudly celebrates its 77^th graduation ceremony, honoring the distinguished graduates of the Juris Doctor program.  To be held at the elegant Victoria Towers Hotel Ballroom, Victoria Towers, EDSA, Quezon City, this year’s ceremony is centered around the theme “Elevate, Innovate, Accelerate: Seizing Opportunities in the Digital Age,” underscoring the evolving landscape of legal practice in the 21^st century.

Commencement Speaker:  Speaker Pangalian M. Balindong

The ceremony will be graced by the esteemed presence of Speaker Pangalian M. Balindong of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), who will serve as the commencement speaker.  Speaker Balindong, an illustrious alumnus of Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU), received both his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from this prestigious institution.  His exemplary career in public service, particularly his pivotal role in the establishment and organization of the BARMM, serves as a testament to his unwavering dedication to the people of Mindanao.

Honorary Degree: Doctor of Laws Honoris Causa

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to public service and his instrumental role in the creation of the BARMM, the School of Law will confer upon Speaker Balindong an Honorary of Laws degree, Honoris Causa.  This honor highlights his exceptional achievements and his commitment to the betterment of society, especially for our brothers and sisters in Mindanao.  Atty. Jason R. Barlis, Chairman of the Legal Board Education (LEB) will read the LEB Resolution Approving MLQU’s application for the conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa on Atty. Balindong.

A Legacy of Public Service

Speaker Balindong’s career is marked by a deep commitment to public service.  Serving in the House of Representatives from 1998 to 2016, he championed numerous legislative initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the Filipinos.   His leadership and vision were further realized when he became the Speaker of the BARMM in 2019, a position he holds to this day.  His efforts have been instrumental in setting up and organizing the BARMM, providing a platform for peace, autonomy, and development in the region.
