MLQU FETES A DISTINGUISHED
ALUMNA
Th e Hon. Rosalinda D. Baldoz,
Secretary, Department of Labor and Employment,
received two awards from her Alma Mater, the Manuel
L. Quezon University, at a dinner tendered in her
honor last August 20, The first award was
presented to her by the University’s Board of
Regents as an expression of their pride in her
appointment to a vital branch of the government
based on no other consideration than her brilliant
and unblemished record in the public service.
The second award was bestowed upon her by the Board
of Directors of the MLQU Alumni Association, Inc.
who dubbed her as a shining example of one who lives
by the Quezonian ideal of service to country and
people with honor and integrity.
A lawyer by profession, Secretary Baldoz is
self-effacing but she is widely recognized in
the hierarchy of government officialdom for her
competence and dedication to duty. Her work as
a labor arbiter is impressive and is particularly
appreciated for her tireless efforts to provide
better working conditions for workers, specially for
those who must leave the county to earn a living.
Her expertise in labor relations, voluntary modes of
dispute mechanisms, grievance settlement and
voluntary arbitration has reduced labor strikes in
the country and had contributed greatly to the
promotion of industrial peace. For this
outstanding feat, she received a Presidential Award
from the late President Corazon C. Aquino.
Other awards and commendations from heads of states,
civic, professional and business organizations, here
and abroad and from Alumni Association followed and
obviously more are to come her way.
In her response to the citations, she candidly
admitted that “Pinoy” does not know
her personally and on her past, she has not even met
him face to face.
Her fellow Quezonians have every reason to rejoice
in her success and feel honored to be identified
with her.
