Schedule of Activities

The School of Information Technology will be celebrating its 28th Founding Anniversary this coming February 2010 with the theme ”Unity for better SIT.”

To commemorate this momentous event, we lined up series of activities such as Quiz Bee about the current events and issues on ICT, Web page design, update students and faculty on the latest technology through seminars by inviting industry practitioners. We also included search for Mr. & Ms. SIT 2010 and some physical activities such as Basketball and Volleyball.

Gawad Sagisag Quezon 2009.

Noong Agosto 2, 2009 ay napag-kalooban ng Gawad Sagisag Quezon ang mga sumusunod na Pilipinong nakapag-abuloy sa mga adhika at lunggati ni Pangulong Manuel L. Quezon, "Ama ng Wikang Pambansa," noong ika-2 ng Agosto 2009 na ipinalabas sa telebisyon NBN 4 tulad ng mga sumusunod:

Kgg. Antonio Eduardo B. Nachura, lingkod sa ehekutibo, lehislatura at hudikatura, na mahigpit na nagpapatupad ng itadhana ng Saligang Batas sa paggamit at pagpapayaman ng wika na mula pa nang siya ay kinatawan ng ika-2 distrito ng Samar.

Radyo Balintataw, may apat na dekada nang nagpapaunlad ng wika sa radyo, telebisyon at pelikula mula nang itatag ni Gng. Cecille Guidote-Alvarez. Marami sa mga taga-Radyo Balintataw ang tumanggap ng gawad.

Kgg. Vicente C. Sotto III, makabayang senador, aktor sa pelikula, radyo at telebisyon, kompositor ng tanyag na awit na "Magkaisa" at "Dakilang Lahi" at paggamit ng wikang pambansa hangga't maaari sa pagpapatupad ng mga tadhana ng Dangerous Drug Board bilang direktor nito.

G. German Moreno, haligi ng pelikulang Tagalog bilang artista at direktor, sa ilang pahayagang wikang katutubo ang gamit, at nakalikha ng mga salita, prase at bigkasing palasak sa kasalukuyan.

Monsianor Sabino A. Venaco, Jr., Pari, Dekano, Propesor, Kolumnista, na wikang pambansa ang gamit na behikulo ng kanyang mga misa sa telebisyon na palipat-lipat sa Kamaynilaan at mga lalawigan sa Luzon at kanyang kolumnang "Alalaon Baga."

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (kinatawan ni G. Manuel Morato) dahil sa pagpapalaganap ng mga pamantayang pangmamamayan sa wikang Filipino tulad ng "Ang nagwawagi ay di umaayaw; ang umaayaw ay di nagwawagi" at iba pa.

G. Angel Cacnio, ang gumuhit ng larawan ni Pangulong Manuel L. Quezon sa biente pesos ng perang Pilipino na tumutukoy na si MLQ ang ama ng wikang pambansa.

G. Edgardo M. Reyes, kayamanan ng panitikang Pilipino ang kanyang mga nobela, kwento, sanaysay, tudling at mga pag-aaral sa leksikograpiya at ortograpiya ng wikang pambansa.

G. Frank G. Rivera, pagbabahagi ng kaalaman sa sining na sumasalamin sa kaluluwa ng wika, lahi at kalinangan, pagdidirehe ng mga dula sa buong bansa mula Luzon hanggang Mindanao, at maging sa ibang bansa, makata ng cellphone.

G. Arthur Casanova, manunulat, propesor, dalubhasa mula sa Mindanao State University, pagsusulat ng mga dula, sanaysay at kuwentong pambata sa pagpapalaganap ng nasyonalismo at pagiging mabuting mamamayan.

Mabuhay ang MLQ University!

Ang mga unang nagkamit ng Gawad Sagisag Quezon noong 2008 ay sina: Chief Justice Reynato S. Puno, Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, Kalihim Heherson T. Alvarez, Dr. Vilma Labrador ng DepEd at NCCA, Publisher Emilio Yap, mag-asawang Carlo J. Caparas at Dona Villa, Chief ng PAO Persida P. Acosta, at Tiya Dely Magpayo ng DZRH.

Ang nangakalagda sa mga Gawad Sagisag Quezon ay tatlong nagtapos sa MLQ University: para sa School of Law, si Atty. Pete S. Principe; sa School of Education, si Prof. Tomas C. Ongoco; at sa School of Graduate Studies, si Komisyoner Jose Ladera Santos. Naging katulong din sa pamimili ng mga gagawaran ang mamamahayag na si G. Efren Montano ng School of Liberal Arts.

School of Engineering 55th Year Anniversary

The Manuel L. Quezon University School of Engineering thru Dean Rogelio M. Avenido, would like to announce its Preliminary Program of Activities for the 55th Anniversary celebration of Engineering Month this coming September 2009.

Engr. Cesar Salandanan, Head  of Civil Engineering Department, and Engr. Richard Batang, Civil Engineering Faculty, are assigned to chair and vice chair respectively the celebration composed of the following activities:

1. Opening of the Program on 01 September 2009 with a thanksgiving mass at 9:00 AM handled by Engr. Carmen G. Pimentel and after the mass Tree Planting activity headed by Engr. Venancio Aznar.

MLQU 61st Commencement Exercises

The MLQU celebrated its 61st Commencement Exercises last April 2, 2009, 3:00 pm at Monzon Hall Quadrangle with the theme “Molding the Country’s Future Leaders”. This was attended by a total of 370 graduates from the School of Law, School of Education, Arts and Sciences, School of Accountancy and Business Arts, School of Engineering, School of Graduate Studies, School of Criminal Justice, School of Architecture and School of Information Technology.

This momentous event was graced by Honorable Nicolas P. Lapeña, Jr., Chairman, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as Commencement Speaker and was marked by a conferment of a Doctorate Degree in Law, “Honoris Causa” to Hon. Lilia B. de Lima, Director General, Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

2008 Commencement Exercises sets on March 28

As part of its year end activity. The KEHS will hold its annual Commencement Exercises on March 28, 2008 at 7:30 A.M. at the Law Quadrangle, Arlegui St., Quiapo, Manila. The said occasion is anchored on the theme, “Molding the Country’s Future Leaders.”

Prior to the graduation rites, a baccalaureate mass will be held by Fr. Dave Clay at MLQU Chapel at 1:00 P.M. on March 27, 2008.

One of the highlights in the said gathering is the awarding of medals and certificates to the graduating students who have delivered exemplary performance in their respective academic and co – curricular activities.

Parents, faculty members, school administrators, guests and relatives are expected to be present in the said occasion to be part of the “crowning glory” in the lives of the graduating students.

Greeting of Peace!

The Manuel L. Quezon University Kinder, Elementary and High School Department (KEHS) will hold a General Alumni Homecoming on April 26, 2008, at 4:00 P.M. at the Law Building, Arlegui St. Quiapo, Manila.

On this regard, we are cordially inviting you to attend the said affair to renew our commitment to the noble ideals of our beloved Alma Mater. Likewise, this much anticipated affair will provide us the opportunity to strengthen the bonds and to further foster camaraderie among us. I’m pretty sure that you are looking forward to meeting old acquaintances, classmates and teachers, reminiscing memorable experiences and sharing your stories of success with them.

One of the highlights in the said affair is the awarding of the “Outstanding Alumni”.
